 Digital Etiquette

Teaching our learners what is appropriate is critical in today’s digital world (where else will they learn it?!). Here are some simple reminders that you can teach your students from as early on as Kindergarten!

Appropriate Camera Position

When recording your videos, make sure to NOT face the camera up. This is distracting to the viewer, and no one wants to look up your nose or see the ceiling fan. We want to hear what YOU have to say!

Make sure to make eye contact with the camera!

When recording, find the camera and try to look at it while speaking. This gives the impression to the viewer that you are talking to them.

💥 Always be sure to do these things too 💥

  • Be sure to introduce yourself in your video and explain what you are going to be talking about.

  • Speak clearly and be concise. Do not drag out your answer and avoid repeating yourself too many times.

  • When responding to others, be sure to call them by their name.

  • When responding to others, start with something positive like: “That was a great response,” or “I really liked it when you…”

  • Do not be a distraction in the background of someone else’s video. If you’re out of your seat, everyone else is going to see it. Be on task and responsible!
